"Kırd" ( Maymun ) kelimesi Kur'an'da ilk kez Bakara süresinin 2/65 kodlu ayetinde geçmektedir.
Bilimsel kaynaklar bilinen yaklaşık 265 maymun türü olduğunu belirtmektedir. Maymun kelimesinin ilk kez geçtiği ayetin kodu ile maymun türleri adedi arasında rakamsal uyum görülmektedir.
